God’s Truth Never Changes: A Call to Stand Firm in a Shifting Culture

Have you ever played the game “Telephone”? It’s a simple activity: one person whispers a phrase to another, and by the time it gets to the end of the line, the original message is hilariously unrecognizable. I remember playing this at church, camp, and school, and the results were always the same—distorted truth.

And isn’t that exactly what our culture does with God’s Word? It takes truth, distorts it, twists it, and repackages it into something that seems close—but isn’t quite right. As Romans 12:2 warns, we are not to conform to this age but be transformed by renewing our minds. Why? Because God’s truth never changes.

Anchored in the Truth

As parents and ministry leaders, we must remain committed to the authority and inerrancy of Scripture. We must never compromise our convictions just to fit into the shifting ideologies of the world. When we struggle with Scripture, the issue isn’t the Bible—it’s our own hearts.

In our homes and churches we are encouraging kids to embrace truth from God and resist the lies our culture so readily offers. These aren’t just lessons for our kids—they’re calls to action for all of us.

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” —Romans 12:2

This transformation starts with what Paul calls a “living sacrifice” (Romans 12:1). In contrast to Old Testament rituals involving dead animals, Paul says we are to offer our entire lives—mind, body, and spirit—as acts of worship to God. This kind of living sacrifice is how we show Jesus is truly Lord over our lives.

Transformation in Action

We are to teach that transformation happens through the power of the Holy Spirit and begins in the mind. Just like a sea urchin undergoes metamorphosis, or a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly, we are called to change—from the inside out. This means we:

  • Fill our minds with Scripture
  • Recognize cultural lies
  • Respond with wisdom and grace

It’s this kind of transformation that enables us to live lives that honor God and reflect His glory.

We Are Better Together

Paul wrote Romans to a diverse church navigating a hostile Roman culture. Sound familiar? Like them, we need each other. Faith isn’t meant to be lived in isolation. Whether you’re a parent or a children’s ministry leader, you’re called into a community where transformation happens in fellowship.

Joining a church, life group, serving with others, and growing in accountability are vital to standing firm on the truths of Scripture. Eugene Peterson called the Christian life “a long obedience in the same direction.”

So, let’s walk in that direction—together.

Anchored to the Rock

In every season, remember:

  • When culture shifts—God’s truth never changes.
  • When your child asks hard questions—anchor them in God’s Word.
  • When you’re weary—stand on the Rock.

Whether you’re in the thick of raising kids or leading a classroom on Sunday, your foundation is the same: Jesus Christ. He is the unchanging truth in a world of changing values.

So next time you hear, “Did God really say…?” you can confidently answer, “Yes, He did. And His Word still stands.”

Let’s expect God to move and make room for Him to do more than we could ask or imagine.

Because God’s truth? It never changes.
